FOR MAY 12, 2008

Hello everyone, we hope you are well. Last weekend's Youth Day 2008 was a tremendous success, as we all "Witnessed the Power" of the young church during the faith-filled weekend at Port Coquitlam's Archbishop Carney High School. Big thanks to our special guests Steve Angrisano, Tammy Evevard, and Archbishops Roussin and Miller. And to everyone who was involved: the volunteers, production team, music ministry team, Stage Team, Spirit Team, youth ministers and chaperones, workshop presenters, exhibitors, Archbishop Carney High School, and especially you young people! Look for pics on our website soon, and view a great video clip of the incomparable Steve Angrisano during the closing session, singing "Lean on Me" and "Every Move I Make." Throw in Tammy's excellent workshop for youth ministers on the Thursday night before Youth Day, and Steve's awesome workshop for music ministers on the Sunday after Youth Day, and it made for an unforgettable weekend!

Congrats to Casey Leroux from St. Joseph's Parish, Langley for winning the latest Crazy Caption Contest. We entered Casey's name into the grand prize draw that we will do in August (we draw in April, August, and December). Click here to see this week's picture: it's a good one featuring Steve Angrisano cleaning up at Youth Day!

We're excited to welcome yet another OCP recording artist and songwriter to our archdiocese for a youth ministry event next month...read on to see who! So sit back and get ready for more exciting youth ministry news in the latest edition of the YMO News:

YOUTH TRAINING EVENTS: REGISTER NOW!

We've sent registration info to schools and parishes regarding our summer youth training events:

YOUTHLEADER. Our Christian Leadership training event will be from August 4 - 8, 2008 at Summit Pacific College in Abbotsford, BC.  This is a top-notch leadership training event!  Many participants return to take leadership roles in their parishes, schools, and communities.  YouthLeader is an ideal training ground for leaders in parishes with newer youth ministries.  One very important change to note this year:  YouthLeader is now open to teens 14 or older (entering at least grade 10 in September 2008).

SEARCHING IN THE SPIRIT. Our post-confirmation training event will be from August 18 - 22, 2008 at Camp Jubilee at the base of Mt. Seymour. Open to youth ages 12-13 who will have been confirmed by this summer, Searching in the Spirit inspires the newly confirmed to continue on in their faith journey.  Register early; this program sells out every year!

You can download all of the pertinent registration info about both training events from our website here.
