Hello
everyone, we hope you are well. We are back from our second summer youth
training event. This time it was Searching in the Spirit, where close to 100
students, adult leaders, Team Leaders, priests, and YMO Staff members gathered
at Camp Jubilee for a spirit-filled 5 days of faith and fun! As can be expected
with so many 12 and 13 year-olds, the energy and enthusiasm was amazing for the
entire week. Special thanks to Father Gino Aloisio, Father Justin Huang, and
Msgr. Mark Hagemoen for each joining us for portions of the week, and to the
awesome Searching in the Spirit Leadership Team for planning and executing such
a wonderful program: Celina, Chris, George, Greg, Janine, Jeremy, Natalie, Oggy,
PJ, Sinora, and team leaders Daina and Francesca. And lastly, thanks to all you
participants for making it such a memorable week!We barely had time to unpack before gathering the next day (this past Saturday) at Holy Cross Regional Secondary School for our Summer Youth Ministry Seminars. It was a great day of learning and sharing, setting the stage for this upcoming service year. Congratulations to Ted Hurley from the Archdiocese of Ottawa for winning this week's Crazy Caption Contest. We entered Ted's name into the grand prize draw that we did today...as it's the end of August (we draw in April, August, and December). Congrats to Ray Tarnai from Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Port Coquitlam for winning the grand prize for the period of May to August 2008. Ray has won a copy of Matt Maher's latest CD called "Empty and Beautiful." Click here to see this week's picture...it features members of this year's Searching in the Spirit Leadership Team.
