We entered Warren's name into the grand prize draw that we did today...as it's the end of April (we draw in April, August, and December). Click here to see this week's picture. Congrats to Chris Stewart from All Saints Parish, Coquitlam for winning the grand prize for the period of January to April 2008. Chris has won a copy of Steve Angrisano's latest CD called "Live: Songs from the Road." It's Youth Day time...so sit back and get ready for more exciting youth ministry news in the latest edition of the YMO News:

The theme is "Witness the Power" based on Acts 1:8. We are excited to welcome Steve Angrisano as our Keynote Speaker and Musician, as well as Tammy Evevard as our special guest. We're thrilled to announce that both Archbishop Roussin and Archbishop Miller will be present throughout the weekend as well! View the info and the promo video on our website here. WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH MINISTERS BY TAMMY EVEVARD CALLED "SACRED FAILURE" Tammy Evevard, one of our featured speakers for Youth Day, will be running a special workshop for youth ministry coordinators, leaders, and volunteers on the evening of Thursday, May 1 from 7:30pm - 9pm at St. Patrick's Parish in Vancouver. We realize that this will make 3 straight nights for some of you...but trust us...it will be so worth it! Tammy will affirm, encourage and inspire you as she takes a look at the many demands on youth ministers such as lack of time, energy, money and resources. Tammy will encourage you in what God has called you to and speak about the gift of being in youth ministry. This session is for adults involved in youth ministry (out of high school); cost is only $10 per person. However, if you are registered for Youth Day, the cost is only $5!!! Don't miss out on this opportunity to hear from one of the most well-known Catholic Youth Ministry speakers today. Register by replying to this email, we'll take your payment at the actual workshop.
Steve Angrisano, our Keynote Speaker and Musician for Youth Day, will present a special workshop for music ministers, choir members and musicians on Sunday, May 4 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Delta. We'll start with Mass at 4pm, followed by dinner and the workshop starting at 6:15pm. As one of the best musical evangelists in the Church today, Steve has mastered the art of drawing people - young and old - into an encounter with God. Steve will teach us the importance of planning and prayer in choosing and leading music for ministry, whether it be for Mass, prayer meeting, or rally! Steve will draw on his 20 years of music ministry experience to give practical tips to all music ministers, as well as speak to the heart of music ministry and music ministers. Cost is only $15 per person (includes dinner and workshop). However, if you are registered for Youth Day, the cost is only $10!!! You need to pre-register for this workshop. Registration forms are available on our website. Look for a great interview with Steve on page 2 of this week's BC Catholic! YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATORS' MEETING Our next meeting for Youth Ministry Coordinators will be on Wednesday, May 14 from 7pm - 9pm at a location to be announced soon. We'll be starting with our annual potluck dinner at 5:30pm. All youth ministry coordinators are encouraged to attend or to send a representative in their absence. Please RSVP to this email to confirm or deny your attendance, as well as with what you'll be bringing for the potluck!
We've sent registration info to schools and parishes regarding our summer youth training events: YOUTHLEADER. Our Christian Leadership training event will be from August 4 - 8, 2008 at Summit Pacific College in Abbotsford, BC. This is a top-notch leadership training event! Many participants return to take leadership roles in their parishes, schools, and communities. YouthLeader is an ideal training ground for leaders in parishes with newer youth ministries. One very important change to note this year: YouthLeader is now open to teens 14 or older (entering at least grade 10 in September 2008). SEARCHING IN THE SPIRIT. Our post-confirmation training event will be from August 18 - 22, 2008 at Camp Jubilee at the base of Mt. Seymour. Open to youth ages 12-13 who will have been confirmed by this summer, Searching in the Spirit inspires the newly confirmed to continue on in their faith journey. Register early; this program sells out every year!

events from our website
