Hello everyone, we hope you are well. Over 150 youth and young adults attended
the Source Eucharistic Adoration event this past Saturday night at Good Shepherd
Church in White Rock. It was a beautiful night of worship, hilited by the talk
by Brother Isaiah and the beautiful display of the Vatican International
Exhibition of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World.
Since our last YMO News, both Faye and Clay celebrated birthdays, bringing their combined age to 70 years. We'll let you figure out who is what age...but we'll give you one hint: they are not the same age! We are thrilled to announce the winners of our YMO Scholarships! Find out who they are below! We're leaving our Crazy Caption Contest picture up for a couple of more weeks...check it out here. YMO SCHOLARSHIPS: AND THE WINNERS ARE... Congratulations to Celina Fader and Luc Gloanec for
receiving the YMO Scholarships for 2008. Both individuals will receive
Celina is graduating from Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School in Port Coquitlam and is a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Port Coquitlam. She is heavily involved at school as part of the REACH squad, LINK Crew, and Reverence for Life Club. As well, Celina is busy at her parish serving as the Chairperson of the Squirette Advisory Board and in the Youth Mass choir. Celina is serving on the 2008 Searching in the Spirit Leadership Team and is looking forward to sharing her faith with youth this summer. Upon learning she had been awarded the scholarship, Celina "did a little dance while on the phone." Celina will be studying Anthropology at UBC in the Fall. Luc
is graduating from St. John Brebeuf Regional Secondary School in Abbotsford
and is a parishioner at

-The Canadian Catholic TV channel Salt & Light TV is looking for groups not going to World Youth Day, but rather staying here and following the events in Sydney. They want to broadcast local events with events happening in Australia during WYD week. If you know of any groups planning to run local WYD events from July 15 to 20 and don’t mind being televised across Canada, please let us know. -World Youth Day will take place in Sydney, Australia from July 15 - 20, 2008... see the official website for World Youth Day here.
-ST. PATRICK'S PARISH TEEN RETREAT: "THE SEUSS IS LOOSE". Overnight retreat at St. Patrick's Parish in Vancouver on June 27 and 28 for teens currently in grades 7, 8 and 9. Cost is free...contact Youth Ministry Coordinator Ria Sotong at 604.874.7818 for more info. -CAMP LEPRECHAUN PARISH DAY CAMP at St. Patrick's Parish in Vancouver from August 11 to 22. Open to youth in grades 5 and 6, the day camp is free but you need to bring your own lunch and snacks. Contact Youth Ministry Coordinator Ria Sotong at 604.874.7818 for more info. -FUN Camps: Friends Uniting for Nature. FUN Camps is a brand new environmental leadership summer day program for youth ages 10 to 15. Run by Friends Uniting for Nature non-profit society, the camp will show how protecting the environment can be easy and FUN! Activities include gardening and stewardship work with other local organizations, building solar cars, hiking, swimming, leadership training, environmental project planning, art from reused materials, games, and more! Eight one-week sessions run at UBC Monday to Friday from 9am-4pm, July 7 through August 29. Cost is $185.00/week.
